What do Freshwater Snails do for an Aquarium?

0

First off, good call on live plants. They really add to an aquarium! On snails: Snails might eat plants, but not enough to notice (unless they start breeding like mad and you end up with a lot). Fish sometimes nibble on plants too; it is kind of cool to watch. Snails help clean up the sides and bottom of the aquarium by eating food and stuff on the bottom and they get some of the algae off the sides of the aquarium (if you have any). They are scavengers. Overall, they are great to have in an aquarium since they are part of a lake/pond/river’s natural ecosystem. They can breed quickly though. I have never had a problem because my fish like to eat them.
