What do French people think about stores across France closed on a Sunday?

In my town there are stores open on Sunday morning, and there is also a market: many stores close on Monday instead. The supermarket I use is closed on Sundays but it’s open until at least 9.30pm every other day and doesn’t close for lunch. The local stores stay open until 7.30pm or sometimes 8pm, and the convenience stores stay open until at least 10pm. So I am not at all inconvenienced by the fact that most stores are closed on Sundays. The people who ARE affected by limited opening hours are people living in the countryside where there are only a small number of stores with few staff, and frankly it’s not the law on trading hours which is stopping these stores opening longer hours, it’s the owners not wanting to.
