What do fossil fuels contain?
This is from exploring science isn’t it!!! Right, you need to understand: 1) a long time ago, small animals called plankton swam in the sea they died and fell to the bottom of the ocean 2) sand and mud built up on top of them over millions of years 3) heat and pressure caused the animals to change into oil. 4) if a big rock is stuck above them, they change in natural gas 5) if it was a plant that died millions of years ago, it is coal now. 6) these fuels (oil, coal and natural gas) are called fossil fuels because they are made from dead animals and plants. Chemical energy is the energy stored in chemicals that you can burn/eat. When you burn something, the chemical energy is changed into heat (thermal) and light energy. (ask you teacher to let you burn foods to demonstrate this – crisps work best) So, hopefully you understand and will be able to answer this without me needing to give you the answers!
