What do european hedgehogs live in, in the wild?
They live in the thicker bushes and hedges. Hedgehogs are not very bright, and are called ‘primitive mammals’ both because of their spines and their ‘very small brains.’ I have a hedgehog for a pet, and since we live in an apartment she has a hollowed out half log to ‘live under’ and her ‘favorite toy’ is toilet paper and paper towel tubes … she pokes her nose in then comes out to ‘look around.’ She likes this ‘protection’ because it looks more like their natural environment in the woods and gardens where they live wild. Believe it or not, that is why hedgehogs are given that name … because they live in hedges (or thick brush) and ‘peek out’ at the bigger wider world!
