What do Conservation and Restoration Ecology majors study?
Students receive a solid foundation in biological sciences, soil science, chemistry, and math. They then take a range of courses that focus on the ecology of wildland plants and animals and on techniques to monitor, assess, preserve, and restore these ecosystems. They also take courses in policy and other human dimensions of natural resource management. With guidance from their advisor, Conservation and Restoration Ecology majors develop an individualized plan for their Program Electives that prepares them for their unique, personal career goals. Conservation and Restoration Ecology majors learn a range of innovative techniques to protect terrestrial ecosystems and to restore and sustain ecosystem function.
