What do colors symbolize in China?
The color red traditionally symbolizes joy and happiness; brides wear red at the wedding. The color is also associated with the communist revolution. White color is for funerals. Color black represents unfortunate and tragic events. A widow, for example, wears black in traditional society. In architecture, the color yellow is reserved for imperial palaces; civilian buildings were not allowed to have yellow tile roofings. In recent social history, yellow has also come to be associated with pornography.
