What do Christians think of the countless similarities between Jesus and the Egyptian god Horus?
Having been to Egypt last year I can assure you that Jesus will have looked nothing like the statue of Horus! Any other supposed similarities are not worth even thinking about. If people wish to believe a lie then make comparisons with Horus, if you wish to know the reality read the Bible, the inspired word of God and don’t get sucked into this nonsense. Jesus had a real purpose in life to save people from their sins. Read the Bible for yourself and don’t get distracted from reality.
I see the the similarities between Jesus Christ and this Pagan Egyptian god, Horus, as the work of some demonic force fighting against God. I believe this simply because it appears that the Egyptian god, Horus, has died out, while Jesus Christ is still today, even after 2000 years of people attempting to destroy Christianity, is still widely believed in, followed, and worshiped. Another thing that Jesus Christ has over Horus is the Bible! The Bible has countless of predictions and scientific facts beyond it’s time it was written that still match up with today’s history and science. Such as the return of Israel and how the Bible said about 3000 years ago that the life of every creature is in its blood.
I think it is fit for toilet paper myself. 1) That webpage is using Tom Harpur’s book and Harpur is an atheist who hasn’t the integrity to quite being a priest. 2) I listened to an expert in Egyptology tear his ideas into toilet paper and yet Tom Harpur is still selling many books, to those that know nothing about Egyptian mythology or the Christian religion. 3) Along with the gnostic versions of Christianity a polytheistic version arose with both Horus and Jesus worshiped. Like the Gnostic these were distortions and had nothing to do with the texts of the Bible. Like Islam and Deepak Chopra’s distortions of Jesus they have nothing to do with the historical Jesus. 4) Most of the ideas of Harpur’s about the items in common are dismissed as fiction created by Harpur and not part of any actual similarities and part of the writings about Isis, Horus and Osiris. 5) Horus was considered to be the sky including the sun and moon, Jesus was a historical figure. 6) We can date the birth, death a
