In 1945 at the age of 17 Pierre Cardin moved to France to become an apprentice tailor. Two years later he was the chief tailor at the fashion house Christian Dior with no intentions of going anywhere. However, in 1950 after a police investigation where Cardin was interrogated about some of Dior’s designs being leaked out, the tailor left to start his own fashion house.
