You should ask the folks in Canada and the UK about their health care system before saying Americans are screwed if they need health care. Here’s a few things you may not know about the Canadian health care system: (1) Coverage is not universal in Canada. You’re only covered in your own province. So if you live in Quebec and you’re in Ontario and need a doctor, that doctor visit comes out of your own pocket. (2) The wait times can be horrendous. Windsor Memorial Hospital has an MRI unit that runs 24/7, but if you need an MRI the wait time is currently 6-8 weeks — and you may have to go in at 3:00 in the morning on a work day for your MRI.
