What Do Atoms Attain When Forming Chemical Bonds?

0

Chemical bonds are formed when one atom gains electrons and the other loses electrons. There are various types of chemical bonds like ionic bond, covalent bond, coordinate covalent bond and metallic bond. All these bonds are formed as a result of electron sharing between the atoms. If an atom loses electron then it gets the positive charge and the atom which gains electron gets the negative charge. The bond which is formed in this case is the ionic bond. On the other hand, in covalent bond the atoms share the electrons. In coordinate covalent bond, the lone pair is given by one atom to the other. Therefore, atoms gets electrons or loses electrons to form a chemical bonds.
