What do atheist believe happens after death?

0

Most "pure" Atheists believe that absolutely nothing happens after we die, since consciousness is the result of electrical impulses in the brain, not of a soul or spirit.  Since they believe there is no soul, then it follows that they would not believe in Heaven, Hell, demons or angels.  Life is an accident of chemistry and evolution, with no greater significance or higher purpose.

This is not to say, however, that Athiests are without a moral compass.  Most take a very humanist view of life, believing that moral behavior should be observed not out of fear, but because we choose to do the right thing… because we will never be any better than we are in this life.

im a pagan atheist lu and i dont know what happens after death could be any number of things but seems likely either non existence or energy transfer to somewhere else, ie another place, another form etc energy only changes form, it doesn’t ‘die’, this is a scientific fact but, it doesn’t mean we will be ‘alive’ again, only that the energy that is in us, that creates us, that is created by us, will change into something else, will now be something else but what it will be and what it will mean for us, our consciousness and our ‘soul’, i have no idea 😉
