What do asylum seekers want with this country specifically, what about countries from Scandinavia and Benelux?
You’ve not been to a Nordic country in quite a while, have you? We’re taking in quite a few ourselves and have been for a long time now. There have been a few cultural clashes, but generally speaking we’re dealing with it quite well. I do think people tend to gravitate toward primarily English speaking countries simply because those with the resources to flee and seek asylum generally speak enough English to get by in those countries or are bringing relatives who do. The Nordic languages can be difficult for non-Natives to learn effectively and aren’t widely spoken outside of the Scandinavian region, so most don’t learn about them until they move to the area. It’s really just a matter of practicality and convenience for the most part.
