What do astronauts usually wear in the shuttle?
ANSWER from Karina Shook on March 18, 1997: Inside the space shuttle, the astronauts work in a shirtsleeve environment once they get on orbit. They typically wear shorts and polo shirts – pretty much everyday clothing like we wear here on Earth. The shuttle environmental control system keeps the temperature comfortable for that type of clothing. Since the astronauts don’t ever “stand” on their feet, they don’t need shoes, so they wear slipper-socks.
