What do Arundel muckrakers do?
We are far less hands on than our predecessors of the 17th and 18th centuries. We don’t infiltrate government facilities to expose wrongdoing. We don’t develop sources to uncover local government secrets. Arundel Muckrakers simply ask for public documents using the Maryland Public Information Act and the federal Freedom of Information Act. We write about what we find, and give you the documents to see for yourself. Do you adhere to traditional journalism ethics? Sort of. Our split personality leads us to write in the first person with a bit of commentary at times. At other times, our posts might sound like a traditional news story. But at all times we strive for accuracy, even if we don’t offer equal ink to both sides of the story. When you publish? We try to post a new story on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
