What do archaeologists hope to learn by unearthing George Washingtons home?
They will learn how our first president lived as a child, and what life was like back in the 1740’s. This kind of knowledge will lead us to a better understanding of our our heritage and culture, and give us insight into one of the greatest Americans ever. I can’t get over how fascinating this is for me–I love archaeological excavations, and this one involving the Father of our Country has got to be the most exciting discovery in a long time! I would absolutely LOVE to go there to see this–and just might, as it’s only 50 miles from where my daughter lives. I tell her that where she lives, in Alexandria, might be where George camped out one night! You just never know! Of course everyone is curious about whether there was a tree and ax on the property.
