What do all the car specifications mean?
Horsepower and torque are interrelated…Torque is the force that generally is referred to as rotational momentum. It’s what starts turning your wheels. Generally, the more torque on tap, the faster you will accelerate. Horsepower is kilowatts in short, or power. Your horsepower is generally a reference to what the car uses for power after around 3800-5000 rpms. When it says 160 HP @ x rpm, that is the rpm in which your engine makes its maximum horsepower and/or torque. At any other rpm, your engine will be producing some number lower than that. You should not be worried about this.. When referring to the engine size in litres (2.0, 4.8, etc.), this is how much air the engine takes in on one cycle of the crankshaft…but to you, you will probably want to reference it as what kind of fuel economy you will get. Engine configurations are aplenty, of which you will likely see mostly I4 and V6. This should only be important if you are concerned with how much your insurance will be.
