What diseases or conditions do herbalists treat?
Herbalists treat acute disorders such as colds, flus, allergies, fevers, inflammation, and infections. Herbal medicine is also extremely beneficial for chronic, long-term conditions such as PMS, menopause, digestive issues, headaches, etc. As a traditionally-trained herbalist, Peggy doesn’t treat disease; rather she treats the person with the disease. For instance, two people may be suffering from arthritis (a disease). One person has burning, painful red joints, a red tongue and a fast pulse. The other person suffers with stiffness and dull aches when it’s cold, has a slow pulse and a swollen tongue. If heating herbs are giving to the first person, their condition may get worse while the same herbs may help the second person. When herbs are selected appropriately, people often see remarkable effects on their emotional and physical well-being.
