What Differentiates The AA and AAX Series?
When SABIAN launched in late 1981, it had two series; AA and HH (now called Hand Hammered). AA is a B20 bronze cymbal (80% copper, 20% tin and traces of silver) that is pressed into shape; machine hammered with small-peen dimpling, and lathed using wide blades. Its sounds are bright, musical, explosive… very open and full. AAX is quite a different cymbal and concept. It is also a B20 bronze cymbal, but that is where the likeness ends. AAX receives a jumbo hammering treatment and pinpoint lathing.
