What different types of time signature are there?
We can describe every time signature in a technical way, and there are two parts to the description. Every time signature is: • Simple, compound or complex AND • Duple, triple or quadruple. For example, 4/4 is a “simple quadruple” time signature. 6/8 and 6/4 are both “compound duple” time signatures. You might get a question in Grade Five Theory asking you for the technical name of a time signature.
