What different types of monitors are there and whats the difference between them?
Wow.. a big question, There are 3 or 4 (depending on how you look at it) different types of monitors. These are : CRT Flat Panel Plasma (the expensive ones which may be classed as flat screens) Touchscreen (£200++ for a 15″ version) CRT monitors are the old standard for monitors, easily recognisable by their bulky, ussually cream or black exterior. They are often to be found for free by companies wishing to get rid of them. They give off a good image, they mostly connect to the PC by a DVI cable (this cable gives the best picture of the two available) Many CRT monitor cables are built in and cannot be transferred. Flat Panel are the standard of today, recognisable by their being flat (well…) they can cost anywhere between £70 for a 15″ to £700 for a 37″ beast and above. These monitors can connect via either a VGA connector or a DIV cable. DVI is the better option to have on the monitor, providing better images and sharper pictures.
