What different kinds of flowers are exported from Kenya?
Let me start with the European Union which currently takes 65% of our cutflowers and these cut-flowers constitute mainly of 60% roses and 40% summer flowers or field flowers. We also have about 25% of products going into the UK and the balance going directly to Japan, Germany and France. Q: What are the top four or five flowers that you export? A: Our top products are roses of which we have several varieties. We have a very wide bouquet of other summer or field flowers. This is primarily because we are able to choose an array of products to grow due to the climate, altitude, precipitation. Kenyan terrain rises from the sea level to over 7,000 meters high and that gives us a varied climate to grow different flowers. Q: Can you explain what advantages Kenya have in flower growing? A: Sitting straight on the Equator we enjoy the equal nights and day, consistent temperatures between night and day and we also go from the sea level and up to the altitude of about 7,000 to 8,000 meters high,
