What different kind of record companies are there in China?
There are basicly 4 kinds of “labels” in China:1. Those real record companies owned by the state with legal licences to publish and release music records on mainland China. They also have many sub labels on different fields and areas. For example “China Recordings”. 2. Local offices of the four world wide so called “Major Labels”.3. Independent record labels. These are mostly not real records companies but publishers in form of originally registered as culture or production companies. They have no given rights to release records by their own and are in need to collaborate with governmental offices or those state owned companies mentioned above. But they mainly build the real core of chn. music publishing institution.4. “Underground Labels”, these are even no real registered companies but some private initiatives in serve to publish bands and products which do not get the attention of above mentioned real companies.
