What difference would a newbie notice between the Sony A100 and the Nikon D40/D80?
The Nikon D80 is superior to the others by far… if you think you would take advantage of it’s features and the price isn’t a problem just get the D80. I recommend against the D40, you can’t use all Nikon lenses with it. Look at the D50 instead… but as I already said if you’re looking at the D80 then get the D80. The Sony A100 was pieced together with parts from this camera… and this camera… and this camera… it’s nothing new, it’s Frankensteins monster, that’s what it is. (Frankenstein is the creator, not the monster by the way) Don’t get the Sony A100, look at the newer Alphas instead if you really want a Sony. My recommendation; just get the D80.
