What did vassals want from their kings?
Kings and queens are generally not chosen by their vassals, they rule because of their bloodlines. However, there are exceptions. Usually a king (or any overlord) is responsible for keeping faith with their subjects, providing protection, and laying out the laws of the land. When subjects become dissatisfied with their monarchs, they may revolt and place a new king or queen on the throne (usually executing the old king, and all his family so that there was no one to “reclaim” the throne from the old monarch’s lineage).
