What did the medieval knight take care of ?
Well the first knights were those of the Crusades, and were supposed to uphold the teachings of Christ by ‘liberating’ the churches captured by or under control of the Muslims. Their duty was to the church and the christian people, but more often it became a mission for wealth and power. During these times the villagers within the districts these lords controlled were virtually forgotten (more often than not knights were lords who had the money and status to be ordained by the church, who may have had their villagers/townspeople follow them into battle. Otherwise they were orders of fighting monks). When you start to move forward in time to the 14C onwards, knights WERE still in use and still fighting, but now for different reasons. They still fought for God, but also for land, for king and country. Weaponry and armour had moved on since the crusades, and there was a constant battle between armourer and weaponsmith as to who could outdo the other in protection/deadly weaponry. Knights
