What did the international community do to help the low income countries reduce poverty?
In my opinion globalization presents a range of opportunities for addressing poverty, but the low income countries donnot have the capacities (institutional, human etc.)and the policy environmnet conducive to reducing poverty. Worse, the international community has deliberatly weakned the already ailing poor economies. A good part of the blame should also go to the policy and decision makers in low income countries, for their high rates of corruption, misuse of public funds and inability to take the right decisions and policies to address poverty. Poverty in the low income countries will continue to escalate, and in the midth of a rapidly globalizing world, unless the right packge of policies and actitions are undertaken at the national level and with the help of the international community. The PRSPs are still far from achieving their objectives.
