What did the Greeks contribute to architecture?
They also contributed two important concepts in architecture. One was anthropomorphism, which is teh idea that architecture should be properly porportioned to people (aside from monumental or religious architecture). A second important concept was the idea of perspective. In large temples, for example, such as the Parthenon, the Greeks recognized that if the columns were perfectly cylindrical, it would cause the columns across the front to appear as though they pointed inward toward the top. To counteract this visual effect, columns were built so that the tops are slightly smaller than the bases, making them appear vertical to an outside observer.
