What Did the Gold Foil Experiment Prove?
The Gold Foil experiment, also called the Geiger-Marsden experiment was to probe the structure of the atom. This was performed in 1909 at the University of Manchester. It actually showed for the first time the presence of the atomic nucleus. Although some of the experiment’s findings have been disproved through modern quantum mechanics, the original idea still holds true.
