What did the Founding Women Gaining Ground Group fund in its inaugural year?
In 2008, the Women Gaining Ground group gift supported the Youth Challenge Fund, an initiative established by the province of Ontario to create youth-led programming in priority neighbourhoods. United Way’s recent Losing Ground research report informed our members that single mothers and their families are increasingly living in poverty in our city. A total of $300,000 in funds was raised to help disadvantaged youth through the Youth Challenge Fund.
