Rosalind Franklin used x-ray diffraction to advance the discovery the structure of DNA. PBS.org says that by producing a fine beam of x-ray light, she was able to extract fibers of DNA, which she then arranged in parallel bundles. Franklin also tested these strands under different temperature conditions.
