What did or do the Native Americans use prayer sticks for?
Answer Prayer sticks are used by many Pueblo people, including the Hopi and Zuni who live in the Four Corners region and Rio Grande Valley. They are brightly painted and decorated with feathers and pollen, and are usually set in the ground near Springs and other water sources, to help send the prayers of the stick’s maker and people to the Creator and helpful Spirits in order that the water may always be found in these locations. This is done on a seasonal basis, or for special intercessions when needed. They are also used in ceremony and set in private locations, near farmed fields, etc. The word, in the Hopi language is Paho (Paah-hoe). Hope this helps.
