Maj. Philip Wise, 40, who joined the Salvation Army, 16 years ago, was shot and killed outside the Baring Cross center in North Little Rock, Ark., after two black males accosted him and demanded money. Wise, who has reportedly spent the last few years helping people in the Baring Cross neighborhood, through the Salvation Army center, which provides youth programs, weekly church services, a food pantry, among other things, did not deserve to be mowed down and in front of his three children, ages four, six and eight. According to the Arkansas Democrat Gazette, Wise was returning to the Salvation Army center at 1505 W. 18th Street on Thursday evening at about 4 p.m., with his children when the two dirtbags approached him and one fired the fatal shot that took his life.
