Lady Lions Begin Season With Pair Of Wins HALLSVILLE — John Tyler opened its volleyball season strong with a pair of wins in straight games over host Hallsville and Chapel Hill on Tuesday. The Lady Lions defeated Hallsville (25-21, 26-24, 25-20) and needed the minimum amount of games again with a victory over Chapel Hill (25-10, 25-7, 25-10). Senior setter Monecia Preston provided the spark for JT against Hallsville. JT received another boost with the return of sophomore middle blocker Jennifer McGowen, who has been hampered by an ankle injury. McGowen totaled two blocks and one kill before sitting out the second match.
