What did Jesus say a man would do if he truly loved the Lord?
“If ye love me, keep my commandments.” John 14:15. So if you say you love him, if you say you know him, and you are not willing to submit your life to him, and obey him, then you are a liar and a hypocrite; and there is a place prepared for you; where there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Love Is Not Legalism We must not fail to emphasize at this point that element of love which must also attend all acceptable obedience. Now we need to see the beautiful balance in Christ’s doctrine of faith and works. He taught that obeying in order to be saved is the worst kind of legalism, but obeying because we are saved is the acid test of a true religious experience. Obedience follows true faith just as surely as day follows night. Obeying the Lords Commandments cannot save you. Only grace through faith in what Jesus did for us; in the gift of GOD for mankind can save us. Never forget that a legalist is one who believes that he can be saved by his works.
