Tim Cleveland of the excise police said Saleh Mugalli, 49, of Gary was arrested on forgery and fraud charges in the course of the raid that took place at Karim Gas and Food Mart, 3118 W. 15th Ave. Another search warrant for counterfeit merchandise was executed at a food mart at 6201 W. 5th Ave. Police were not sure of the correct spelling for the business’ name. DVDs, CDs, hundreds of dollars in cash and fake Nike athletic shoes were seized at that location, according to Cleveland. Information about the alleged illicit sales is being forwarded to the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office.
