What did frederick Douglass achieve after escaping from slavery?
At first he worked as a caulker and at menial jobs in New England. He dedicated his life to the abolition of slavery and for the rights of black people. He became a lecturer, author and reformer always speaking out against slavery and injustice. In 1845, he published his autobiography, “Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass” He founded an antislavery newspaper, the “North Star”.in Rochester, New York. He led a campaign against segregated schools in Rochester. His home was a station on the underground railroad for runaway slaves. During the Civil war he helped recruit blacks for the Union army.
