What did elizabeth tudor do for the catholic and protestant religion?
Although Elizabeth I followed the Anglican faith, she was tolerant of catholics provided they did not involve themselves in plots to depose or kill her. She stated that “there is only one God and one Christian faith and all the rest is dispute over titles,” and that “I will have no windows into men’s souls.” A large portion of the population of England was still Catholic during her reign but most of them were as loyal to her as they had been to her predecessors. Unfortunately, the Pope issued a “Bull” which stated that it was the duty of all English catholics to do all within their power to get rid of Elizabeth and install a Catholic monarch which put Catholics in a very difficult position.
