What did Anton van Leeuwenhoek discover?
Antony van Leeuwenhoek discovered bacteria, free-living and parasitic microscopic protists, sperm cells, blood cells, microscopic nematodes and rotifers and many others. These discoveries were derived from his knowledge to make simple microscopes. He was believed to have created over 500 microscopes. The microscopes present in his time only magnify objects about twenty or thirty times their original size. Leeuwenhoek endeavored to create a more powerful microscope that could magnify objects 200 times their size.
