This question certainly hightlights the “dumbing down” of our students. OMG I learned about Lincoln in the 1st grade, the 2nd grade, etc. And YOU are of the generation that grew up with the internet. I CAN LOOK IT UP ON GOOGLE. Are you claiming you don’t know how to use a search engine? This is definite proof that modern education does not work, because people do not learn. You are not the only VICTIM. I’m just very glad I did not grow up when you did, and I’m happy my children had my help learning their lessons. How are victims like YOU going to help YOUR children? Perhaps it is time for your generation to GET OFF the internet and pick up some books. The best ones are the ones written before World War II. After that, they started dumbing down the books. I learned more about American history from a book written in 1923 AFTER I GRADUATED than I learned in school from “modern” text books.
