What determines the research agenda of the Agricultural Experiment Station?
The Experiment Station exists to develop technology which will support and enhance Tennessee’s agricultural enterprises, its rural environment and communities, and the quality of life of its rural citizens. The Experiment Station is funded by state and federal appropriations and we receive significant industry support. The research agenda includes both maintenance (applied research) and discovery research. The short-term agenda is basically determined by the expertise of the available faculty. As new priorities develop, we attempt to accommodate change by replacing faculty who retire or who leave our employment with new faculty with expertises relevant to the new priorities.
