What designates the differences in Western Saddles?

the differences in the western saddles comes from neccessity.i will start with the swells the swells come in “slick” to “widowmakers”.slick swells are made for roping and ease of dismounting when on the line.on the other end of the saddle spectrum you have the “widowmaker”swell, this swell is wide and usually is 14+” wide and is used for green horses or horses that spook easilly so you can lock your knees in the saddle so you dont get thrown easilly(not reccomended for beginer riders)these are called widowmakers for a reason. cantles can come in high cantles and low cantles.low cantles are for more movement in the saddle but arent good at keeping you in at a dead run, high cantles are more for racing or where you want to keep you in the saddle for fast movement while mounted. sturrup rigging can be confusing to most people so i will simplify it.a centerfire rig moves your hips back and your shoulders forward as the rigging moves forward it moves your hips forward and your shoulders back
