What degrees to I need to get if I want to pursure forensic science?
You are a little vague on what part of forensics. But a science bachelors (bio or chem) and then to work in the general lab you could also get a medical technologist training (clinical lab scientist) (ascp.org). You can do a masters in criminalistics (which requires a fair amount of criminal justice core classes). That teaches you things like trace evidence analysis, crime scene photography, forgery, finger print analysis, firearm analysis, hair, DNA, etc analysis, toxicology etc. Then you usually specialize in one area & train further. To do autopsies and that sorta stuff you need to be a MD with a residency in pathology and then fellowship & additional training in forensics. A Nursing degree will not buy you anything in criminalistics. Forensic nurses usually do (perform) rape kits.
