What defines walking distance to the Mission Hills neighborhood?
Walking distance is a difficult length to define. Therefore, we use distance which the Port currently (spring 2001) deems walkable, namely the distance from the proposed parking structure to the furthest gate. We use the Port’s distance as the radius for an arc which begins at the front door of the proposed terminal and extends into Mission Hills/Middletown neighborhood. • Is there any study on the fumes increasing due to the expansion? We are not aware of any studies made to date. But logically, if the aircraft are now idling and refueling a mile closer to our homes, there should be an increase in air pollution because there is less distance for the pollution to disperse. • The prevailing winds come from the West.
