The following debts are not erased in both Chapter 7 and Chapter 13. If you file for Chapter 7, these will remain when your case is over. If you file for Chapter 13, these debts will have to be paid in full during your plan.

Most debts can be erased (discharged) through bankruptcy.  However, certain debts are nondischargeable.  Some of these include:

Domestic support payments (chid/spousal support)

Student Loans

Personal injury judgments while the debtor was driving under the influence

Most taxes

Fraudulent acts (including embezzlement)

What this means is that even if you close your bankruptcy case successfully, you are still generally liable, in full, for those debts.
