What debts are not erased by bankruptcy?
Most debts can be erased (discharged) through bankruptcy. However, certain debts are nondischargeable. Some of these include:
Domestic support payments (chid/spousal support)
Student Loans
Personal injury judgments while the debtor was driving under the influence
Most taxes
Fraudulent acts (including embezzlement)
What this means is that even if you close your bankruptcy case successfully, you are still generally liable, in full, for those debts.
