A Philadelphia camp director says parents of minority children who were asked not to return to a suburban private pool are considering legal action. Alethea Wright of Creative Steps in northeast Philadelphia says she had arranged for the 65 children in her day camp to go each Monday to The Valley Club in Huntingdon Valley. But she says shortly after the children arrived last month some of them said they heard people asking what “black kids” were doing at the pool. Wright says the club refunded the camp’s money several days later without explanation. Calls to the swim club by The Associated Press went unanswered. Sen. Arlen Specter has issued a statement saying he is looking into the matter. (This version CORRECTS the name of the club to The Valley Club, instead of the Valley Swim Club.)
