Katrina hit New Orleans on August 29, 2005. the Levees broke on the 29th and 30. The city started flooding on the 30th. It flooded until the streets of the city and Lake Ponchatrain reached the same level. The city was under water for several weeks and was officially evacuated for about 4 weeks. If you want exact dates, you can google the local newspaper – Times-Picayune, New Orleans and follow the dates beginning August 28.
