What data will be destroyed?
The Trace remote data destruction feature uses a secure technology to destroy all files and subfolders under the computer’s My Documents and Settings folders. The remote data destruction is fully compliant with the US Department of Defense clearing and sanitizing standard DOD 5220.22-M. These folders contain all user data, which includes but is not limited to data files, cookies, Internet history, logon information, cache, emails, and other user data. Once the data is destroyed, it is not recoverable. The operating system, system files and programs will not be destroyed. Trace’s laptop location tracking capability won’t be affected by the remote data destruction and emails with the laptop’s precise location will continue to be sent to the owner’s registered email address. When a Trace remote data destruction command is executed on a USB flash drive, all of the files on the removable drive are destroyed.
