What criteria will the NIMS Support Center use to evaluate my product?
The scope of the evaluation will be determined during the product selection and planning phase. Products are evaluated for NIMS concepts and principles and relevant NIMS recommended technical standards. If a product does not implement any of the technical standards, evaluators will review the product solely for NIMS concepts and principles utilizing the NIMS STEP Worksheet. See Appendix A of the NIMS STEP Guide for a description of the criteria. Products that are primarily focused on implementing technical standards (such as alert and warning systems) will be evaluated utilizing the NIMS STEP Worksheet – Technically Focused Evaluation. This worksheet provides assessors an opportunity to comment on relevant NIMS concepts and principles but focuses on implementation considerations and provides a product overview. NIMS technical standard tests are objective in nature and based upon adopted standards. NIMS STEP engineers test vendor product’s adherence to the CAP and/or EDXL-DE technical s
