What criteria does the City use to determine whether or not a particular road needs patching and/or an asphalt overlay?
The City had a Pavement Management Program (PMS) study done in 1993 and updated in 1995. The PMS survey evaluated 462 street segments totaling 256 lane miles in length. A recommendation was made for all streets evaluated as to the type of rehabilitation strategy for either 1) reconstruction, 2) overlay, 3) seal coat and/or 4) patching. The City has an annual ROADS Program fund to rehabilitate the roads and each and every year the City is working towards the continuing effort to repair as many roads as possibly within it’s annual budget.
