The NEL Research Design and Implementation Checklist was used to assess the methodological rigor and quality of each included primary and review study. The checklist for primary studies consists of four relevancy questions and ten validity questions based on the Agency for Healthcare Research Quality (AHRQ) domains for research studies. Sub-questions under each validity question identify important aspects of sound study design and execution relevant to each domain. Some sub-questions also identify how the domain applies in specific research designs.
